DESCRIPTION:

In this unique opportunity, three internationally renowned photographers will present their work, giving an insider's view of some of the most exciting photography being produced today. This is the first of two photographers talks organized by FotoWeek and Lucian Perkins. Each photographer will speak for about an hour.

Liza Faktor, a Russian photographer and curator, will show some of the latest photography emerging from Russia and the CIS today.

Lincoln Schatz will show his unique form of participatory art and portraits with his recent project “Portrait of the Violence Epidemic” and his commission to create “Esquire’s Portrait of the 21st Century”.

Alexandra Avakian will show work from her latest book, "Windows of the Soul, My journeys in the Muslim World" published by Focal Point/National Geographic, and a short selection of her LIFE Magazine pictures from the fall of the Berlin Wall in honor of the 20th anniversary.

There will also be a special viewing of Tim Hetherington's piece “Sleeping Soldiers” which was described by Photo District News as “best photojournalism project we can’t show you. ”
